Sri Navarasa Devi Mahatmyam: The Chapter of the Slaying of Asuras Thanos and Joker

Suta Pauranika, with devotional ecstasy, began narrating to the rishis of Naimisharanya the chronicles of the annihilation of the tyrannical demons Thanosasura and Jokerasura, who had caused the entire cosmos to tremble.
Chapter 1: The Hubris of Thanosasura and Cosmic Cataclysm
In ancient times, Thanosasura, born in the realm of Titan, performed severe penance towards Brahma for several yugas. He obtained an unnatural boon: “I must possess the supreme power to turn half the cosmos’s population to ashes with a mere snap of my fingers (Snapping); for this, the six cosmic gems (Infinity Stones) shall be my aid.”
Arrogant from the potency of this boon, the purple-hued demon terrified the celestial guardians and the rishi-clans of the Avengers, throwing the balance of the heavenly cosmos into chaos. All the devas gathered and cried out, “O Mother! O Navarasa Devis! Protect and deliver us!”
Chapter 2: The Battle Formations of the Nine Goddesses
Hearing the lamentation of the devas, the Navarasa Super Goddesses manifested on the divine battlefield from across the nine realms:
- The Supreme Sacrifice of Sri Black Widow Ammai: Even before the conflagration began, she paved the way with her self-sacrifice to augment the celestial weapons’ power, infusing the armies of the Goddesses with initial fervor.
- The Mechanical Sorcery of Sri Shuri Devi: Formulating an ultra-modern sonic missile system infused with Vibranium herbs, she shook the armada of the demon’s starships.
- The Tempestuous Wrath of Sri Storm Nayaki: Gathering clouds in the celestial canopy, she rained thunderbolts and torrents upon Thanosasura’s war engines, miring his ground forces in deep mud.
- The Valor of Sri Supergirl Kanni: Swooping down from the sky, she intercepted the colossal meteors hurled by the demon with a single hand, pulverizing them to dust and defending the aerial pathway.
Chapter 3: The Slaying of Thanosasura (The Tri-Shakti Play of Scarlet, Marvel, and Phoenix)
Seeing his vanguard decimated, Thanosasura twirled his double-edged blade and roared with pride:
“I am Inevitable!”
At that moment, Sri Scarlet Witch Mata manifested on the battlefield. Her eyes turned into blazing crimson embers:
“You took everything from me!”
Lifting Thanosasura into mid-air with her sorcery, she crushed his weapon and ripped his battle armor apart with mere fingertips. Agonized, the demon violated all codes of dharma and ordered his warships: “Rain fire upon the field!”
In that instant, piercing through the Milky Way at lightning speed descended Sri Captain Marvel Bhagavathi. Smashing the demon’s colossal warship with her bare brow, she wrenched the nine-gem gauntlet away from his hand.
Finally, Sri Jean Grey / Phoenix Bhavani manifested her universal cosmic form (Vishwaroopa), spreading wings of fire across the skies. Screaming with fierce wrath, “Om Cosmic Agnaye Namaha!”, she engulfed Thanosasura in apocalyptic flames. As the hubris of the nine gems dissolved in the cosmic fire, the great asura turned to mere ash and dispersed into the wind. The devas showered petals from the heavens.
Chapter 4: The Anarchy of Jokerasura and the Divine Play of Dharma
Though Thanos fell, in the mortal world within the corrupt, Kali-ridden city of Gotham arose the phantom demon Jokerasura. Whitening his face with flour, laughing with venomous malice, he threw all righteous orders into the vortex of ‘Chaos’, terrorizing the populace. Devoid of philosophy, violence alone was his worship.
To quell him, two righteous powers descended into the night:
- The Agility of Sri Catwoman Yogini: Leaping from the shadows, the Yogini swept her whip in a single strike, disarming and neutralizing the explosives and arcane gadgets hidden by Jokerasura.
- The Lasso of Truth of Sri Wonder Woman Devi: As Jokerasura attempted to flee, she bound him tight with her luminous golden ‘Lasso of Truth’.
Unable to endure the divine radiance of the cord of truth, Jokerasura—who had deceived the world with lies and mock laughter—fell silent. His illusions of chaos evaporated, and he wept aloud contemplating his misdeeds. He was subsequently confined to the Arkham Ashram, and dharma was restored.
